Hola familia! This week was a pretty good one! First of all, we had transfers today but Elder Anaya and I are both staying together in Caucel! Our zone had a couple of transfers so we have been here in Centro all day and in a little bit we are going to go show some of the new elders that are just getting here to the mission around Merida! haha
It was a pretty uneventful week! We did divisions with the Elders that are in our ward in Caucel, but they work in a different area. They work in the “Caucel Pueblo”. Our area is basically just a suburb haha, but crossing into their area it turns into a pueblo! Like where its not a city, like the Mexico that we all think about when we think about Mexico, or like in Nacho Libre, like that hahaha. President Garcia had met with the zone leaders this week and gave us some ideas about how to teach the Atonement and we taught that like 3 times when we did divisions with less active members and it was really awesome. We have been teaching it more like how Elder Bednar taught the Atonement in the last general conference, that the Atonement of Jesus Christ isnt just for our sins, but also for our pains, sufferings, trials and sicknesses, and that as it says in Mathew 11, we can share our load with our Savior when we make and keep sacred covenants with God. In the same way that two oxen work better than one when hauling a wagon or cart, we can invite Jesus Christ to share our load. Elder Bednar teaches that “Making and keeping sacred covenants yokes us to and with the Lord Jesus Christ.” Not a lot of people know that…
I have been studying the conference talks from Abril and they are so stinking awesome! I love knowing that there are prophets of God on the earth that teach us what we need to know. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are complete, but God loves us so much that He gives us even more. I love the talk by Bishop Gary Stevenson about how this life is our “4 minutes” to perform. I like thinking more about a wrestling match so I like saying this life is our 6 minute match. After so much preparing and training and cutting weight and suffering, everything comes down to how we perform in that 6 minute match. In the same way, we have been preparing for who knows how long before we came to this world to be able to perform to the best of our ability in these short 70 or 80 years that we are here on Earth. ¿How are we performing? ¿How are we spending our short time here? ¿What things are important to us? I love what it says in Hebrews 12:
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The mission is really awesome because it helps you be able to put things into perspective. Maybe before I was more interested in how I would be able to make a lof of money, have the nicest house, the nicest car, be able to travel the world, and yes I would still love to have all of these things haha, but how important are they? There are things more important! ¿How are we doing in our scripture study? ¿How are we doing in our personal prayers? ¿Church asistance? ¿How is our relationship with God? ¿Is it superficial or personal?
Okay I went off on a little side track there and now am out of time! I love you all so much! I got my package this week! I have the best mom in the world!!! The weather here is nice and hot in the morning and afternoon and then rains in the nightime. The other day we got SOAKED haha, but whatever! We keep working haha.
I love you all so much! Se cuidan mucho!
