So the phrase, be careful what you wish for has received new significance for me since last night. Last night when we got the call for transfers, I was ready to hear that we were both going to stay in Izamal, or that Elder Cornejo was going to leave, that I was going to train, I had no expectations. I have said that I felt ready to train, not that Im aspiring for leadership positions but I just feel ready as a missinoary! Well anyways last night I found out that I am going back to Campeche! But this time, I am going to open an area in Escarcega, which is the farthest area from Merida, I am going to be training a new missionary (who I will meet tomorrow!) and I am going to be a district leader… WHAT HAPPENED!!!!!! Chispas that was a slap to the face for me! I am sitting here in Merida right now waiting until I give birth to my son (mission lingo, sorry if that sounds weird), and then I am off to Escarcega tomorrow! Escarcega is famous for being the armpit of the mission, because it is super far from Campeche, and even farther from Merida, and there hasnt been very much success there in the last couple of years. The branch (yes my first time in a small branch) and area is called Morelos. I am still surprised as I am writing this to you all haha.
So yeah HAPPY NEW YEARS! The next time I write we will be in 2014! How crazy! 2013 was awesome and will be hard to beat.
This week was good/weird. With all of the holiday stuff our schedule has been way off so the last couple of days that have been normal felt good.
First, Christmas was good! A little anticlimatic after I got to skype, but still good! I think thats just Mexico in general. All of December is a huge party and by the time Christmas comes around everybody is exhausted haha. I cant even put into words how amazing it was to see you all! Just a phone call would have been lame! haha It was really the highlight of my holiday season this year! Especially that I could see Candace for a little bit! My family is perfect and I brag about you guys all the time down here in Mexico!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE EVERYBODY! I hope that the Christmas season has been amazing for everybody up until now! Mine has been really good, nothing too special but good! Ill explain later why I am writing today and not yesterday!
Well it is good to hear that everybody is alive and well! Im not too bad myself! This week was a good one! Long, but good.
Phewwwww ugh I don’t even know where to start with this letter. First, this week was loooooooonnnnnnggggg haha. Today was a well deserved P Day. So as I mentioned I am no longer in Campeche and am in the wonderful state of Yucatan in the awesome city of Izamal! Izamal really is awesome. There are like 5 or 6 pyramids just in the middle of the city! And there is a huge convent that is really pretty too. The city (or at least central part) is all painted yellow so it is really cool looking (but be careful not to brush your arm against the walls or your sleeve becomes yellow too haha). Izamal is really different than Campeche, it is a lot calmer and smaller too. Look up pictures of the convent and pyramids here! We live like 3 minutes from the biggest pyramid so its cool to walk past it every day!
